Proyecto Juan Diego: Cameron Park, Texas
Established in 2003, Proyecto Juan Diego, a sponsored work of the Province of St. Louise, is located in one of the poorest places in the United States, Cameron Park, Texas. With more than half of the surrounding population living below poverty level (according to 2013 census statistics), the goal of the center is to empower low-income families by meeting healthcare and family social development needs, creating a healthy and self-sustainable lifestyle.
Proyecto Juan Diego’s programs primarily revolve around family and healthcare, providing mentorships, employment assistance, and health education to the community without charge. Other programs include resources for migrant families, advocacy for fair treatment of immigrants, and classes centered around stress management, financial awareness, interview skills, legal rights, etiquette, and college and financial aid.
To empower low-income families to be healthy and self-sufficient members of community through educational programs, family activities, and preventative health services.
