A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Annalee Faherty, D.C., was celebrated December 23, 2019 at the Marian Chapel of The Sarah Community, Bridgeton, MO; burial followed at Marillac Cemetery, Normandy, MO. Sister died December 19, 2019 at The Sarah Community. She was 83 years of age and 65 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
Sister Annalee entered the Daughters of Charity in 1954 after graduating from St. Vincent High School in Perryville, MO. She attended Marillac College in Normandy and, after completing initial formation in 1956, Sister Annalee was sent on mission to Mobile, AL. At St. Mary’s Home, she served as a Housemother and as a Teacher at Cathedral School. In 1961, Sister was missioned to St. Louise de Marillac School in St. Louis to teach in the upper elementary grades. In 1966, she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Saint Louis University and was sent to Guardian Angel Settlement Association in St. Louis as part-time Caseworker at the Day Care Center and later served at a supervisory level. At the same time, she served at the Stella Maris Day Care Center in St. Louis assisting with adoptions. In 1968, she joined the faculty of Marillac College in the Social Work Program where she taught until 1974. She was then missioned to West Plains, MO, assigned to Social Work Pastoral Ministry until 1978. Sister was next missioned to Austin, Texas where she served as Administrator of Marywood (Home of the Holy Infancy). In 1989, she returned to St. Louis to serve as Social Worker at Guardian Angel Settlement Association. She served at Guardian Angel until 2018 when she joined the Ministry of Prayer at The Sarah Community where she served until the time of her death.
Her parents preceded Sister Annalee in death. She is survived by her sister, Carol (Robert) Rousseau of Perryville; nieces; nephews; and her Sisters in Community
