A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Lucille Swarm, D.C., was celebrated Feb. 11, 2015, at Seton Residence Chapel in Evansville, Ind. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville. Sister Lucille died Feb. 4 at 92 years of age at Seton Residence.
Born Feb. 12, 1922, in Clayton, N.M., Sister Lucille (baptized Lucille Frances Swarm) was one of three children born to Clark and Elizabeth Ann (Deinken) Swarm. She was a 1939 graduate of Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Ind. Sister earned her diploma from Central Business College in Indianapolis, Ind. She entered the Community of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in St. Louis, Mo., in June 1945. She celebrated 69 years vocation in 2014.
After her initial formation, Sister Lucille began her ministry as a Daughter of Charity as an accountant at DePaul Settlement in Chicago, Ill. (1946–1949); at St. Margaret Hospital in Montgomery, Ala. (1949–1960 and 1966–1978); at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis (1960–1966); and at Mater Dei Provincialate in Evansville (1978–1990). In 1990, Sister Lucille entered the Ministry of Prayer at Seton Residence in Evansville. There, from 1990–2005, Sister assisted with accounting at Seton Residence. Sister lived at Seton Residence until the time of her death.
Sister Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Dorothy Gagle and Josephine Feeney. She is survived by her nieces, Janet Garrison and Rosalie Roff of Indianapolis; Betty Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; and Roseanne Marusa of Noblesville, Ind.; her nephew, Robert Gagle, of Noblesville; and her Sisters in Community.
