As part of their work on the Interprovincial Advocacy and Social Justice Committee, Sister Patty Huffman, D.C., and Sister Meggie Flores, D.C., traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual Catholic Social Ministry Gathering. The Sisters joined more than 500 other justice leaders from across the country to learn and take action on pressing issues of justice and peace. The conference culminated with a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill, during which participants met with their members of Congress and advocated for an expanded Child Tax Credit, a pathway to citizenship for Afghan humanitarian parolees, and increased international humanitarian and development assistance in the FY24 federal budget. Below is a video of Sister Meggie reflecting on the advocacy day!
