In Memoriam: Sister Patricia Bachman, D.C.

Sister Patricia Bachman died at Seton Residence on July 6, 2025. Sister was born on January 25, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri and was one of three children of Mary Rose (Thrush) and Charles Eugene Bachman, Jr. She graduated from Lillis High School in Kansas City in 1960 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1967.

Sister Patricia received a B.S. in Social Studies from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1974. Sister served as a House Mother and Child Care Worker at St. Elizabeth Home, Program Coordinator at St. Monica Social Service, and as Administrator at Ozanam Inn in New Orleans, Louisiana. In San Antonio, Texas she was a Social Worker at DePaul Family Center and a Case Manager for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was then missioned to Austin, Texas where she was Coordinator of Group Living at Marywood Home of Holy Infancy and Mission Associate at Seton Family of Hospitals. She served as Program Director at Kolbe House in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In Arkansas she was a Case Worker at Neighbor to Neighbor in Pine Bluff and a Parish Minister at Catholic Social Services in Little Rock. Sister was also a Parish Minister at St. Elizabeth Church in Kansas City, Missouri. In East St. Louis, Illinois, Sister was a Case Manager for Catholic Urban Programs. While in St. Louis, she was Moderator of the Ladies of Charity as well as a volunteer at SSM DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Missouri. Sister served in the Ministry of Prayer at the Sarah Community in Bridgeton before coming to Seton Residence in Evansville to continue that service.

A Wake Service was held Thursday, July 10, in the Seton Residence Chapel and the Mass of Christian Burial took place July 11, also in Seton Chapel. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Sister was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dorothy Carter and her brother Charles E. Bachman, III. She is survived by loving family members, her Sisters in Community and many friends.
