In Memoriam: Sister Hermana Hoelscher, D.C.

Sister Hermana (Rudolphine) Hoelscher died at Seton Residence on February 3, 2026. Sister was born on December 22, 1936, in Westphalia, Texas and was one of five children of Herman William and Anna (Wiltschek) Hoelscher. She graduated from Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas in 1955 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1957.

Sister Hermana served in Child Care at St. Rose Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and St. Elizabeth Home in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Marillac College in St. Louis. She served as a staff nurse at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas, DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, and at St. Vincent Infant Home and Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Sister also served as a hostess at the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Maryland, a teacher at DePaul Community Development Center in Stamps, Arkansas, a pastoral assistant at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a caregiver at CSJ Care in Kansas City, Missouri, and Director at Seton League House in Austin, Texas. Sister Hermana began to serve in the Ministry of Prayer first at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton, Missouri (2013 to 2019) and then at Seton Residence from 2013 until the time of her death..

A Wake Service was held on February 5, 2026, in the Seton Residence Chapel and the Mass of Christian Burial took place the following day with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Hoelscher and her sister, Sister Mary Ann Hoelscher, CDP; and she is survived by her brothers, Paul Ernest and Albert Joseph Hoelscher; loving family members; her Sisters in Community; and many friends.
