The new Daughters of Charity Health Center East opened in New Orleans, La., early this year, a recent Clarion Herald article reports. The fourth health center from Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans (DCSNO), its opening coincides with the Daughters’ anniversary of 180 years of service to the New Orleans area.
With 33,000 square feet, the center offers health services for all ages and needs, accepting both insured and uninsured patients. The Clarion Herald quotes Maureen Larkin, DCSNO vice president of strategic and community affairs: “People love the Daughters of Charity. We tell people we are not free, but we will help them out as best as we can, and that you can do everything you need (medically) in one place. Our new center is beautiful and state of the art.”
Daughters of Charity held a special Mass Jan. 4 to celebrate 180 years in the area. DCSNO is one of several ministries with which the Daughters are involved in New Orleans.
