A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Caroline Lennox, D.C., was celebrated Feb. 20, 2016, at Seton Residence Chapel in Evansville, Ind. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville. Sister Caroline died Feb. 15, 2016, at Seton Residence in Evansville. She was 94 years of age and 64 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Sept. 25, 1921, Sister Caroline (baptized Gladys Mary) was one of two children born to George and Julia (Yeager) Lennox. Sister graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit in 1951. She entered the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in December 1951.
Sister Caroline earned her Associate in Arts degree in Accounting in 1962 from the Junior College of Finance and Business in Washington, D.C.
Following initial formation, Sister Caroline served as Assistant Business Manager at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn. (1953 to 1954); as Business Manager at Sisters’ Hospital in Waterville, Maine (1954 to 1957); St. Mary’s Medical Center in Saginaw, Mich. (1957 to 1960); and St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md. (1962 to 1968). She then served as Administrative Assistant at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Mich. (1968 to 1975); Business Manager at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. (1975 to 1976); Accountant for the Mater Dei Provincialate in Evansville (1976 to 1985); and Personnel Assistant at St. Vincent/Sarah Fisher Center in Farmington Hills, Mich. (1985 to 2000). In 2000, Sister Caroline was missioned to Seton Residence in Evansville where she served in the Ministry of Prayer until the time of her death.
Sister Caroline was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Gerald; nieces and nephews; her Sisters in Community; and many friends.
