A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Ann Molesevich, D.C., was celebrated November 14, 2017, at DePaul House Chapel, Albany, N.Y. Burial followed at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, N.Y. Sister Ann, on mission at St. Louise House in Albany, died November 7, 2017. Sister was 78 years of age and 41 years vocation.
Born in Shamokin, Penn., on July 2, 1939, Sister Ann was baptized Ann Patricia. She was one of three children born to Peter and Ann (Ryniak) Molesevich. Sister Ann joined the Community of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in January 1976 from Patronage of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church in Marion Heights, Penn.
Sister Ann was a 1956 graduate of Kulpmont High School in Kulpmont, Penn. She continued her education as she served as a Civil Servant with the United States Navy from 1956 to 1969 in Philadelphia, Penn.
Following her initial formation, Sister Ann ministered in Pastoral Care at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, Conn., (1976 to 1978); in Parish Ministry at St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Buffalo, N.Y., (1978 to 1981); at Catholic Charities, Bronx, N.Y., (1981 to 1989); again in Pastoral Care at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport (1989 to 1992); in Pastoral Care at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, N.Y., (1992 to 2005, during which time Sister served as the Local Community Superior from 1999 to 2005); in Pastoral Care St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy, N.Y., (2005 to 2012); in Pastoral Care a third time at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, (2012 to 2014); and in Pastoral Care at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C., (2014 to 2017). In January 2017, Sister Ann joined the Ministry of Prayer at St. Louise House, Albany. While there, she volunteered at the Rourke Center in Troy.
Sister Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Theresa Bergonia. She is survived by her brother, Peter (Diane); her brother-in-law, Frank Bergonia and his wife, Betty Anne; her niece, Pam Nichols (Joe) and their children, Connor, Riley, and Grace; her niece, Alicia Slachta (Joe) and their three daughters, Emma, Lola, and Stella; her nephew, Francis Bergonia (Jen) and their two sons, Cade and Sage; her close friend and fellow Daughter of Charity, Sister Diane Louttit, D.C.; and her Sisters in Community.
