A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Patricia Rehm, D.C., was celebrated April 26, 2019, in the Seton Chapel at Seton Residence in Evansville, Ind.; burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, Evansville. Sister Patricia died on April 20, 2019, at Seton Residence in Evansville. She was 82 years of age and 62 years vocation as a Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul.
Born April 29, 1936, in St. Joseph, Mo., Sister Patricia (baptized Patricia Ann) was one of two children born to Anthony and Catherine (Salanky) Rehm. Sister Patricia was a 1954 graduate of Convent of the Sacred Heart, St. Joseph, Mo. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Marillac College, St. Louis, Mo., in 1960, and her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Xavier University, New Orleans, La., in 1976.
Sister Patricia entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis from St. Patrick’s Parish, St. Joseph, Mo., in May 1956. Following initial formation, Sister Patricia served as an Upper Elementary Teacher in St. Louis, Mo., at St. Patrick School (1958 to 1963) and St. Louise de Marillac School (1963 to 1970). Sister Patricia was then missioned to St. Stephen Grade School, New Orleans, La., where she served as an Upper Elementary Teacher (1970 to 1972); then, as an Elementary Teacher and Counselor (1972 to 1978; during this time, Sister was the Local Community Superior). Sister Patricia was missioned to Cardinal Stritch High School, Keokuk, Iowa, where she served as a Secondary Teacher and Counselor (1978 to 1984; during this time, Sister was the Local Community Superior); then, was missioned to St. Mary’s Regional School, West Plains, Mo., where she served as an Elementary Principal, Teacher and Counselor (1984 to 1990; during this time, Sister was the Local Community Superior). Following certification in Clinical Pastoral Education, Sister Patricia was missioned to Kansas City, Kan., where she served in Pastoral Care at Bethany Hospital (1990 to 1991) and St. Joseph Care Center (1991 to 1997). Sister Patricia continued to serve in Pastoral Care as a Volunteer Coordinator at Villa St. Francis, Olathe, Kan., (1997 to 2006); then, was missioned to The Sarah Community in Bridgeton, Mo., where she assisted the senior Sisters (2006 to 2010).
In 2010, Sister Patricia was missioned to Seton Residence, Evansville, Ind., where she also assisted the senior Sisters (2010 to 2015). In 2015, Sister Patricia entered the Ministry of Prayer there; where she served until the time of her death.
Sister Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother Thomas (Helen) Rehm of St. Joseph, Mo; nieces, nephews, and cousins; her Sisters in Community; and many friends.
