Sister Mary Theresa Fox died at Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana on June 5, 2020. Sister Mary Theresa was born on September 27, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana and was one of seven children of Richard and Genevieve (Zix) Fox. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois in 1946 and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1948.
After initial formation in St. Louis, Sister Mary Theresa received her nursing training at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and began her ministry as a supervisor in the areas of medical/surgical, psychiatric and pediatrics nursing at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, St. Vincent Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas and DePaul Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sister received a BSNE in Nursing Education from DePaul University in Chicago and a MSN in Psychiatric Nursing from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She also served as a Clinical Specialist and Nurse Practitioner at St. Vincent Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, a Psychiatric
Nursing Instructor and Parish Visitor at St. John Hospital in Springfield, Missouri and a Mental Health Clinical Specialist Instructor at DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Missouri and Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Sister was also an Instructor in the School of Nursing at Loyola University in Chicago and a Clinical Specialist and Nurse Practitioner at Providence Hospital and DePaul Center in Waco, Texas. Sister then served in the Ministry of Prayer at The Sarah Community in Bridgeton, Missouri and in Evansville, Indiana.
Sister Mary Theresa was buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Evansville. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard; and her sisters, Dorothy Kolbaba, Genevieve Serocki, Donna Fox, Anita Ritzler and Catherine Padula. Sister is survived by nieces and nephews, her Sisters in Community and many friends.
