Daybreak, sponsored by Depaul USA, is a day center for people experiencing homelessness. Located in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood of Macon, Georgia, not far from the Tubman Museum, Daybreak offers folks a safe haven where they can rest, regroup, and work toward getting off the streets.
Sister Deborah Mallott, Executive Director, greets visitors as they arrive. “A lot of people who live on the street, they wind up losing their ID,” she said. “So, the first place you have to start is helping people reintegrate into society, feeling welcome someplace, feeling a sense of belonging and feeling like they’re worthy of something.”

Sister Bella Davila, D.C, also serves in social ministry at Daybreak.
The Center recently held its annual “Sleepout” fundraiser. In advance of the fundraiser,
WMAZ television news featured a morning’s look at Daybreak.

Daybreak is supported by many volunteers and 16 different Macon congregations
including Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Muslim, and Jewish communities.
