Sister André (Patricia Ann) Aycock died at Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana on December 31, 2023. Sister André was born in Lockport, Louisiana on February 17, 1933 and was one of six children of Garland Philip and Julia Effie (Chenet) Aycock. Sister graduated from St. John High School in Franklin, Louisiana in 1950 and studied nursing at Hotel Dieu Hospital and Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia in New Orleans, Louisiana before entering the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1958.
After initial formation and reception of a B.S. in nursing from Marillac College, Sister André served as Assistant Director of Nursing Service at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis. She then earned an MSN in Public Health Nursing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1969 and then served as Associate Director of Nursing at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and as Director of Nursing at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis and DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton, Missouri. From 1979 until 2011, Sister André served as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Taitung, Taiwan. After returning to the United States, she volunteered as Assistant Chaplain at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center in New Orleans and at Providence Park/The Village in Waco, Texas before coming to Seton Residence in Evansville in 2015 to serve in the Ministry of Prayer.
A Wake Service was held January 5 and the Mass of Christian Burial on January 6, both in the Seton Residence Chapel, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Guy, Richard, James and Dr. Garland “Jeff” Aycock Jr. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Aycock, nieces, nephews and other loving family members, her Sisters in Community and many friends.
