A funeral mass for Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Sister Regina Lindner, who died Nov. 29, 2012, was celebrated Dec. 2, 2012 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg, Md. Sister Regina was buried in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on the grounds of St. Joseph House in Emmitsburg. She was 93 years old and 65 years vocation.
Four of her sisters also entered the Community of the Daughters of Charity—Clare, Florence, Madeleine, and Mary John.
After completing her initial formation, Sister Regina served at the Home for Catholic Children in Boston, Mass. Beginning in 1952 and continuing for 20 years, Sister Regina taught English in elementary and secondary schools in Johnson City, N.Y.; Charleston, S.C.; Albany, N.Y.; Baltimore, Md.; and Portsmouth, Va.
Sister Regina earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg in 1962; she completed her Master of Arts degree at St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., in 1969. Beginning in 1977, Sister Regina served in patient and pastoral care in Washington, D.C.; Pensacola, Fla.; and Emmitsburg. She entered the Ministry of Prayer in Emmitsburg in 2001.
Sister Regina was a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. She is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary John Lindner, D.C., of Emmitsburg; Mrs. Loretta Lippold of Cumberland; her sister-in-law Melba Lindner; a number of nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and her Sisters in Community.
