Sister Theresa (Theresa Marian) Peck died at Seton Residence on January 12, 2024. Sister was born on October 14, 1934,in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was one of three children of Leopold Leon (Pocwiardowski) and Marie Dorothy (Pietruszynski) Peck. She graduated from Notre Dame High School (1952) and St. Mary’s School of Nursing (1955), both in Milwaukee, and entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1956.
After initial formation and reception of a BSN in Nursing from Marillac College, Sister Theresa first served at St. Mary’s Help Hospital in San Francisco, California, Then, she served as Nurse Supervisor at Hotel Dieu in El Paso, Texas and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She received an MBA from George Washington University in Washington, D. C. in 1969. Sister Theresa served as Assistant Administrator at St. Joseph Health Center and Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and as Administrator at Seton Home Health in London, Kentucky, St. Joseph Hospital in Alton, Illinois, St. Mary Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana, and St. Vincent Hospital and Health Services in Indianapolis, Indiana. From 1986 until 1993 Sister served in the roles of President and Vice President of Daughters of Charity National Health System (DCNHS) in St. Louis. She served as President and CEO of St. Joseph Health Centers and Hospital and Catholic Health Partners in Chicago, Illinois.
Sister served in the roles of Provincial Councillor, Provincial Assistant and Provincial Treasurer at Mater Dei Provincialate and as Administrator of the Mater Dei Campus. She was an active board member of Mission and Ministry, Inc., Visioning for the Mission Steering Committee, Seton Harvest, Inc., St. Vincent Early Learning Center, and Habitat for Humanity. She served in the Ministry of Prayer at Seton Residence until her death.
A Wake Service took place on January 18 and the Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 19, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Sister Theresa was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Leroy Peck. She is survived by her sister Virginia Adamski, her nieces and nephews and other loving family members, her Sisters in Community and many friends.
