Sister Louise Gallahue, D.C., Visitatrix of the Province of St. Louise-USA, welcomed the 274 attending Sisters and officially opened the Provincial Assembly on Sunday evening, June 22. The intentions of the Assembly include:
- Honoring the Province’s three-year journey as the Province of St. Louise.
- Deepening the Province’s evolving identity as the Province of St. Louise.
- Articulating priorities for the Province that incarnate The Boldness of Charity for a New Missionary Momentum.
- Contributing wisdom to the international assembly process in advance of the General Assembly that will be held in Paris, France, in May of 2015.
The theme, “The Boldness of Charity for a New Missionary Momentum,” is the shared theme of all the Daughters of Charity Provincial Assemblies to be held throughout the world in 2014.
The Provincial Assembly will continues through Saturday morning, June 28. In addition to discussions and voting, the attending Sisters will hear presentations about the identity of Daughters of Charity as a Society of Apostolic Life and about Human Trafficking in 2014.
